Located west of Davidson County and downtown Nashville, Cheatham County is the perfect blend of natural surroundings and big city amenities. The prosperous community is home to many commuters who trek into downtown Nashville for employment and prefer to live a more laid-back lifestyle. However, it’s not necessary for residents to travel downtown for employment or entertainment as the community boasts a variety of options within arm’s reach.

According to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Cheatham County was about 39,764 as of 2014. The population has experienced great growth in the past few decades.

According to Cheatham Connect Economic and Community Development, some of the biggest employers in the county are A.O. Smith Water Products, Gate Precast, Inc., Homax Products, Rogers Manufacturing Corp. and Caraustar.

Cheatham County is conveniently located near highways, railways, commuter lines and navigable waterways. Its convenient location not only makes it a great place to live, but also a wonderful community for business. The county has access to three exits and entrances for Interstate 24 and Interstate 40 is close by as well. Nashville International Airport is about 35 minutes away from county, making traveling throughout the world accessible here.

Living in Cheatham County Tennessee

Cheatham County is chock full of historic sites and stunning natural surroundings. The crown jewel of this community is the 20,000-acre Cheatham Wildlife Management Area, boasting horseback riding trails, bird watching sites, archery and more. Massive concentrations of Cliff Swallows, an average of about 3,000 per year, gather at their nesting site at the Cheatham Lake Dam making it a simply wonderful place to bird watch.

Beyond the wildlife area, Cheatham County is home to the 6-mile Bicentennial Trail, which is a beautiful location for runners, walkers and bikers. River bluff Park along the Cumberland River, Ashland City Park and Pegram City Park are all wonderful spots for residents of Cheatham County to get in touch with nature.

This small community is also host to a variety of events and festivals that take place throughout the year. The River bluff Acoustic Music Festival is one that has taken place since October 2004, which is a local favorite but the Cheatham County Fair is the front runner here. Each August residents and travelers come from far and wide to gather and experience this unique fair that has been taking place for more than 65 years.

Living in Cheatham County offers the best of both worlds because residents are able to experience small town charm as well as world class attractions and events. Downtown Nashville is home to some of the most outstanding arts and culture attractions, including the Cheekwood Museum and Botanical Gardens, The Tennessee State Museum, the Belcourt Theater and more. And beyond the typical Nashville claims to fame, the city is becoming one of the most vibrant food cultures in the country.
